The Effect of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 on Legal Aid for Family Cases. The legal aid system was created in 1949 as part of the development of the post-war Welfare State, alongside the National Health Service. It provides funding both for legal advice and out-of-court representation by lawyers, for example in negotiating the settlement of disputes, and -- should it come to this -- legal representation in court. However, this is set to change in April 2013, when the controversial Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 is due to come into force. Cambridge Aid 4 Health Simulation 2012 www.humanitariancentre.org/2012/03/cambridge-aid-4-health-2012/ Fifty students from over twenty UK universities took part in the UK's first Aid 4 Health Simulation in Cambridge on March 9th & 10th. The simulation, organized by the Humanitarian Centre, aimed to capture the complex dynamics of the negotiations for aid and wider aid processes. Students played the role of a multitude of actors and institutions including, amongst others, ministries of the Malawian Government, the World Bank, UNICEF, the World Health Organisation and USAID. The Cambridge Street Aid Fund offers grants to help homeless or vulnerably housed people in Cambridge. A registered charity, it is funded by donations and supported by a number of organisations, including Cambridge City Council. It is not the only scheme the council supports which helps rough sleepers, homeless people and those at risk of homelessness in the city. And our reporter, Laura Brainwood, went find out how the council believes the scheme is progressing.

The United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Denmark collaborate to help maintain the world's attention on the humanitarian crisis in East Africa, which has left more than 320,000 children so severely malnourished that they are at imminent risk of death unless they get urgent help. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were accompanied on the visit by the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Denmark. Their Royal Highnesses arrived at UNICEF's Supply Center in Copenhagen's Freeport at 14:30 and were welcomed by Shanelle Hall, Director of UNICEF's Supply Center.
