    The Effect of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 on Legal Aid for Family Cases. The legal aid system was created in 1949 as part of the development of the post-war Welfare State, alongside the National Health Service. It provides funding both for legal advice and out-of-court representation by lawyers, for example in negotiating the settlement of disputes, and -- should it come to this -- legal representation in court.     Cambridge Aid 4 Health Simulation 2012 www.humanitariancentre.org/2012/03/cambridge-aid-4-health-2012/ Fifty students from over twenty UK universities took part in the UK's first Aid 4 Health Simulation in Cambridge on March 9th & 10th. The simulation, organized by the Humanitarian Centre, aimed to capture the complex dynamics of the negotiations for aid and wider aid processes. Students played the role of a multitude of actors and institutions including, amongst others, ministries of the Malawian Government, the World Bank, UNICEF, the World Health Organisation and USAID.     The Cambridge Street Aid Fund offers grants to help homeless or vulnerably housed people in Cambridge. A registered charity, it is funded by donations and supported by a number of organisations, including Cambridge City Council. It is not the only scheme the council supports which helps rough sleepers, homeless people and those at risk of homelessness in the city. And our reporter, Laura Brainwood, went find out how the council believes the scheme is progressing.

    In July 2016 the team challenged themselves to walk 100km in 24 hours. Karen, Micky & Katie started the challenge near the Olympic Park in London heading up the fascinating Lea Valley, past locks, parkland and on through beautiful open countryside finishing up in the historic city of Cambridge. This was in aid of Stroke Association to raise awareness of strokes and also raise funds to support all their hard work. Stroke Association improve the lives of people affected by a stroke. Campaigning is one of the ways they do this. They work with people who have had a stroke, health professionals, local government and politicians to find out what the problems are for people affected by a stroke and create solutions.

    Cambridge Calais Refugee Action Group relies on volunteers to support our regular convoys to Calais and Dunkirk. Filmmaker Luke Pierce joined our convoy in April and followed volunteers as they travelled from Cambridge to the refugee camps in northern France. Ms Miles is Fellow and Director of Studies at Trinity College, Cambridge, and a Senior Lecturer in Law, specialising in Family Law. She is also Academic door tenant at 1 Hare Court, Assistant editor of the Child and Family Law Quarterly. and an Elected member of the Executive Council of the International Society of Family Law. In 2005 Ms Miles was seconded for two years to the Law Commission for England and Wales to work on the financial consequences of relationship breakdown. Cambridge Calais Refugee Action Group relies on volunteers to support our regular convoys to Calais and Dunkirk. Filmmaker Luke Pierce joined our convoy in April and followed volunteers as they travelled from Cambridge to the refugee camps in northern France. They spent the weekend helping provide food, aid and assistance to the camp residents. Our sincere thanks to Luke for making this film and to all our volunteers for giving their time and compassion.
